Women of Cinematic Arts

Women of Cinematic Arts (WCA) is an University of Southern California (USC) student organization under the School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) dedicated creating tangible change by supporting new voices and fostering a diverse, intersectional creative community. Founded in 2005, WCA continues to thrive in offering resources and connections to our women.

This year, WCA is continuing its annual Feminist Media Festival, which will be a series of workshops, mixers, and panels to support the creation of media that will be screened and judged for awards.

“If there’s specific resistance to women making movies, I just choose to ignore that as an obstacle for two reasons: I can’t change my gender, and I refuse to stop making movies.”

– Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty)

Additionally, WCA also hosts Industry Coffees with cinema professionals from a spectrum of fields, as well as internal community bonding events for our members.
